Part 1 is self-paced study via our Trainee Portal online. This includes reading, videos, and personal reflections. Upon enrollment, our staff will walk you through the login and signup process to gain access to the Trainee Portal. We'll also provide insight into subject matter and how personal reflections are to be submitted to the staff mediators/trainers as you progress through your studies. The time commitment for this part of the course is approximately 16 hours and must be completed between Sep 4 - Nov 5, 2020.
Part 2 is interactive group learning with other attendees. This includes ten, 45-minute webinars provided by senior mediators/trainers on subjects including Trauma-Informed Practice, Co-Mediation Dynamics, Cultural and Societal Considerations, and more. We leverage the reach of video conferencing online and combine Zoom and Lino collaborative tools as part of each webinar. Once enrolled, look for specific scheduling information on planned webinars to be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The time commitment for this part of the course is five hours and must be completed between Oct 1 - Nov 2, 2020.
Part 3 is our final practical application of process and skills. This includes in-person instruction, role play, and individual coaching during three successive days. A continental breakfast is included each morning and a one hour lunch break is planned daily. Senior mediators/trainers present this comprehensive, culminating part of the course and provide added perspectives on a wide range of mediation case work in Central Oregon. Attendees will receive detailed daily agendas and are required to participate each day to qualify for completion or training certificates. The time commitment for this part of the course is 24 hours (three 8-hour days) from Nov 4 - Nov 6, 2020, with all instruction provided at Community Solutions in Bend.
