January Roundtable

Co-mediation policy & practices

Join us for our first Mediators Roundtable discussion of 2018! We'll be meeting on Wednesday 1-31-2018 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm in the large conference room adjacent to our offices located at 1029 NW 14th Street, suite 104 in Bend. The Executive Director will host the discussion and refreshments will be available.

Our intent is to clarify and simplify everything related to co-mediation, an organizational practice we've subscribed to for 20 years and counting. Although our co-mediation policy has evolved over time, we are committed to its use in cases involving families. Family casework includes situations of divorce, separation, annulment, adoption, parenting, elder care, inter-family conflict and more. During this discussion, we'll emphasize the principles behind co-mediation, highlight successful co-mediation dynamics, review our process for co-mediation assignments, and discuss best practices for use by co-mediators during each phase of mediation. Our organization places great value on this practice, so much so that our Basic Mediation Training (BMT) course highlights several role play scenarios during which students co-mediate for the first time.

Come and join the discussion! New this year: All volunteer mediators attending will receive Continuing Education (CE) credits documented in their records. Questions? Contact the Executive Director (ED) via phone - (541) 383-0187, or email - director@solutionsco.org.

Our name and logo reflect the broad yet interconnected scope of our services!

Our name 'Community Solutions of Central Oregon' - formerly Central Oregon Mediation - may seem subtle to some, novel to others. In short, our name reflects our emphasis on providing far more than traditional mediation solutions; we provide facilitation and education programs and services as well.

Our logo is a circular, three piece jigsaw puzzle. Each piece represents one of the three main services we provide - Mediation, Facilitation, Education - with contrasting colors meant to differentiate each while also demonstrating that all are related pieces essential to our work as a community dispute resolution center.
